Rebecca Trescher Sextet
WALDEN
Composer and clarinetist Rebecca Trescher brings together a sextet of long-time musical companions and close friends. The programme features selected works from her diverse repertoire alongside new compositions written especially for this ensemble.
Inspired by nature and Henry David Thoreau’s Walden, whose famous line “I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately” resonates as a guiding idea. Trescher turns her focus to landscapes and forests encountered while travelling or close to home. In these places she finds calm, renewed energy, and inspiration for her music: in shifting light, colours, scents, plant life, and the layered atmospheres of the natural world.
The audience can look forward to an evening of vivid storytelling and sonic exploration. Rooted in contemporary jazz, the music unfolds through finely woven compositions, expressive improvisation, and generous space for each musician’s individual voice.
